What we can arrange for you

These are the covers international residents in Madrid ask us about most. Everything is arranged through us at no extra cost — we are paid by the insurer, not by you.

Health insurance for your visa

The one that gets applications rejected. Spanish immigration requires full private cover with no co-payments, no waiting periods and no annual cap. We know which policies meet the requirement and which look cheaper but get refused.

Home insurance

Whether you own or rent. In Spain the most common claim by far is water damage to the neighbour below, and your liability for it. If you have a mortgage, the bank can require cover — but it cannot force you to buy it from them.

Life insurance

Usually taken out alongside a Spanish mortgage. Same rule as above: the bank cannot oblige you to take its own policy, and shopping around normally saves a significant amount over the life of the loan.

Travel insurance

Medical assistance abroad, cancellation and luggage. Also the right product for a short Schengen tourist visa, which asks for at least 30,000 euros of medical cover — a different requirement from residency.

Business & liability

If you are self-employed or run a company here: professional indemnity, public liability, office or shop cover and cyber. Many Spanish clients and public tenders will ask you to show a liability policy before they hire you.

Reviewing what you already have

Send us the policy you signed when you arrived. We will tell you what it really covers, what is missing, and whether it is worth changing. Often it is not — and we will say so.

Health cover for a Spanish visa: the part people get wrong

This is the single most common reason we get called. Someone buys a policy that looks like it fits, submits the residency application, and it comes back rejected — often weeks later, with the visa appointment already gone.

For a non-lucrative, student, digital nomad or general residency visa, the Spanish authorities ask for private health insurance that:

  • is with an insurer authorised to operate in Spain;
  • has no co-payments — you must not pay per visit;
  • has no waiting periods, so cover is effective from day one;
  • has no annual limit on the amount covered;
  • is valid for the entire length of the permit you are applying for.
The trap: most standard health policies sold in Spain include co-payments, because they are cheaper that way. They are perfectly good policies — they just do not meet the visa requirement. A travel insurance policy does not qualify for residency either, no matter how high the medical limit is.

Short tourist stays are a different thing

If you are coming to Spain for under 90 days on a Schengen tourist visa, the requirement is much lighter: a travel policy with medical cover of at least 30,000 euros, valid across the Schengen area, including repatriation. Do not buy a full residency health policy if this is all you need.

Tell us which permit you are applying for and we will tell you exactly which policies qualify, and what they cost. We do this every week.

Why use a broker rather than going direct

In Spain there is a legal difference between an agente, who works for one insurance company, and a corredor or broker, who is legally required to advise you impartially across the market. We are the second kind, registered with the DGSFP — Spain's insurance regulator — under number J4540.

That difference matters most at two moments. When you buy, because we compare the wording and not just the price: two policies at the same premium can cover very different things, and the exclusions are where that shows. And when you claim, because we deal with the loss adjuster and chase the insurer on your behalf, rather than leaving you to argue in Spanish with a call centre.

What it costs you

Nothing. Our commission is paid by the insurer and is already included in the premium you would pay anyway. You are not choosing between "cheap direct" and "expensive with advice" — you are choosing between doing it alone and having someone who does this daily.

Where we are

Our office is at Calle de Covarrubias 21, 28010 Madrid, in Chamberí. You are welcome to come in, but everything can also be handled remotely by phone, email or WhatsApp — which is how most of our international clients prefer it, including those still living abroad while their visa is processed.

Frequently asked questions

What health insurance do I need for a Spanish visa?
For a non-lucrative, student, digital nomad or residency visa, Spain requires full private health cover with a company authorised to operate in Spain, with no co-payments, no waiting periods and no annual limit, valid for the whole length of your stay. A standard travel policy does not qualify. For short Schengen tourist stays the requirement is different: a travel policy with at least 30,000 euros of medical cover is enough.
Does it cost more to use an insurance broker?
No. Our advice is completely free for you. A broker is paid a commission by the insurer, and that commission is already built into the premium, so the price you get through us is the same or better than going direct. What you gain is impartial comparison across companies and someone who handles the claim with you if something goes wrong.
Can I get insurance in Spain without a NIE?
For most health policies you can start the application with your passport, which is what people applying for a visa from abroad normally do. For home, life and business policies the insurer will usually need a NIE or NIF before the policy is issued. Tell us your situation and we will find a company that fits it.
Do you speak English?
Yes. We advise clients in English and Spanish, and we explain the small print of Spanish policies in plain English before you sign anything. Policy documents themselves are issued in Spanish because that is the legally binding language in Spain, but we go through them with you.
I already have a policy in Spain. Can you review it?
Yes, and it is one of the most useful things we do. Send us what you have and we will tell you what it actually covers, what is missing and whether the market offers something better. Most Spanish policies renew annually and can be cancelled with one month's notice before the renewal date.

Not sure what you need?

That is exactly what we are for. Tell us your situation and we will come back with the options that actually apply to you — free, and with no obligation.
